What Does Inspection Mean?

Inspection means a close, critical examination, of a product to ensure it meets a specific criteria. It is like scrutinizing a diamond or checking the brakes on a car. Additionally, the term inspection entails looking carefully, maybe testing things, to ensure safety, quality, or adherence to rules. In brief, imagine a detective combing a crime scene, a builder assessing foundation cracks, or a health inspector reviewing restaurant kitchens – they’re all inspecting!

What is the Inspection Certificate?

Issued by approved experts, it states all’s well and grants your product a green light for trade, use, or operation. Moreover, from food to factories, electronics to elevators, it assures buyers and authorities things are safe and sound.

Who Issues the Certificate of Origin in Egypt?

The GOEIC (The General Authority for Exports and Imports Control) is solely responsible for issuing certificates of origin or transit. In fact, these certificates apply to exported goods originating from Egypt or acquired with Egyptian origin. Evidently, the issuance is limited to commodities exported to countries that have established bilateral, regional, or multilateral trade agreements with the Arab Republic of Egypt. Ultimately, these agreements grant the Arab Republic of Egypt preferential treatment in transactions.

What is the Process to Obtain Inspection Certificate for Egypt?

The process of obtaining an inspection certificate is as follows:

Step 1

Importers are required to register shipment details on CARGO-X and generate an ACID number.

Exporters or Egyptian importers need to complete the application form and upload relevant documents, including the invoice, packing list, and product quality documents such as test reports.

Step 2

Verger will assess the application and identify the applicable standards.

Step 3

If testing is necessary, it will be conducted in an accredited laboratory (ILAC), with Verger coordinating sampling and overseeing laboratory testing.

Step 4

After completing the previous steps, Verger will coordinate and schedule on-site inspections by the closest inspector to the inspection site. Each shipment will be inspected according to the invoice once the products are ready for shipment.

Step 5

Upon reviewing all the documents, Verger will upload the inspection certificate along with the technical file on the GOEIC portal.

What is the Validity Period of the Egypt Inspection Certificate?

Upon issuance, the Certificate of Inspection holds validity solely for the corresponding shipment. Also, its validity expires once the shipment reaches Egypt.
