VERGER Group, as a SASO notified Conformity Assessment Body, wishes to inform all stakeholders about an important update from the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) regarding the unification of charger ports for smartphones and electronic devices.
Key Updates:
1. SASO has approved updates to the following standard specifications:
– SASO IEC 62680-1-2:2017
– SASO IEC 62680-1-3:2017
2. These standards aim to unify the types of ports for smartphone chargers and electronic devices.
3. Implementation Date Extended for SASO updates:
– Previous date: August 1, 2024
– New date: January 1, 2025
4. Reason for Extension of SASO updates:
SASO has acknowledged obstacles reported by importers regarding the products included in this decision. The extension is intended to facilitate optimal application of the updated specifications by all suppliers.
This extension provides additional time for manufacturers, importers, and suppliers to ensure compliance with the new requirements.
As a SASO notified Conformity Assessment Body, VERGER Group is prepared to assist stakeholders in understanding and meeting these updated standards. For further information or assistance with conformity assessment, please contact our team.
We will continue to provide updates on any further developments regarding this important standardization effort.
